Grouper Season is finally open here in Stuart, FL!
Inshore Report-
Fishing inshore this week has been excellent for Snook, Jacks, Ladyfish, Redfish, Sheepshead, Snapper, & Seatrout. Live baiting has been your best bet for catching keeper sized snook. we have been averaging 5-25 snook per trip when using the proper live baits. Lures like DOA, Rapala, & mirrorlure have also been a sure fire way to catch Trout, Redfish, Jacks, & Snook. Fishing early moring or late afternoons will yield better success as summer temps approach us this year.
Nearshore-
Fishing nearshore has been very productive for Cobia, Snapper, Golaith Grouper, Sharks, Bluerunners, Jacks, Permit, & Sheepshead. Lots of Smaller rudder fish mixed in as well. Lots of action can be expected during the spring an summer months on our local nearshore charters. Half day trips are a great time for families. Full day trips are for the avid fisherman who just cant get enough. Cobia fishing remains strong and is at its peak during months of May & June.
Offshore-
Fishing offshore has been absolutely stellar as of lately. Good Grouper fishing on deeper wrecks & reefs. Lots of oversized Amberjacks are readily available for any angler willing to take on the battle. Trolling has been good for Tuna, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, & Kingfish. Today the Mayhem caught a 47 lb kingfish first thing this morning. Most kingfish average 5-20 lbs. Todays 47 lber was a battle & a half. Cobia fishing has been good but unfortunately you cannot keep cobia outside of 3 miles at this time. Bottom fishing for larger mutton snappers has been great when current allows you to fish certain depths for larger fish. Deep dropping has also been steady for Snowy Groupers, Tilefish, & Barrelfish.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Jonathan
